Credibility at Work

In my last post I mentioned I attended an event facilitated by @PhilWilcox about Emotion at work. Phil discussed credibility and how you can not own your credibility however it is possible to influence it.

Forbes posted an article in 2011 where Deborah L. Jacobs  listing 9 ways to Boost Your Credibility At Work.

Whether you’re looking for a new job or trying to excel at your current one, these steps can help build—and maintain—your credibility.

Credibility can be impacted by a variety of things:

  • Experience
  • Association
  • Integrity
  • Competence
  • Values
  • Likability
  • Clothing
  • Language used
  • Accent
  • Age

Phil explained in his session that context is everything when talking about credibility, authenticity and deception. Research 101 have a great video to explain this a little further:

Within Learning & Development it is essential to influence business leads and promote learning solutions. Without credibility within an organisation this would extremely difficult.
